Designed for maximum clinical versatility, ease of use and cost effectiveness

One instrument platform - eight stem options

With the Option™ system a single instrument platform allows for precise implantation of eight stem options including cemented and press fit stems in both standard length and long stem designs. Hospitals today are focused not only on cost reduction but also on minimizing equipment storage overhead as well. The Option Hip System addresses each of these concerns while providing the surgeon a wide range of implant choices that meet varying patient needs.

Uniquely functional and easy to use, the Option instruments insure that consistent, reproducible results are achieved while operative time is minimized.

Engineered ceramics for reduced UHMWPe wear

Ceramic femoral head options offer superior hardness, abrasion resistance and wettability and therefore the potential for significantly reduced polyethylene wear1,2. With the implication of polyethylene wear debris as the major cause of bone osteolysis and consequent implant failure, reduction of this wear debris has become an important goal in hip arthroplasty.

Kinamed’s available ceramic heads, including Alumina (in 32mm) and Zirconia (in 28mm), have an impeccable clinical record3. Careful engineering of both the ceramic material and the interfit of the head on the stem insure that the potential of ceramic can be realized without undue fear of material failure.

All stems in the Option Hip System have the same engineered taper allowing full flexibility for use of either ceramic or cobalt chrome heads depending on patient demand level.

Unique Exact-Fit™ Broaching System

Proper preparation of the femoral canal is one of the most time consuming and critical aspects of the hip arthroplasty procedure. Kinamed’s system of 13 broaches with .8mm incremental sizing provides for unparalleled precision and speed in canal preparation.

Broach manufacture utilizing 5-axis CNC grinding technology assures maximum accuracy and sharpness. This translates into optimum implant fit and ease of use in the O.R. Further, the .8mm incremental sizing allows for quick and easy broaching while reducing the chance of fracture. Tapered reamers in five sizes are also available to open the canal.
